Techniques & Lenses
Tia Sunshine
Tia Sunshine Dye is an artist studying the human experience within herself and through a variety of cultural lenses.
Ever since Tia’s first watercolor lesson, she has explored the medium and how it can be combined with other art supplies. She prefers to mount much of her completed art on paper onto cradled wood panels and recently began painting on wood panels prepared with watercolor ground. This new technique allows the use of the wood grain to support the composition. Both of these watercolor techniques are finished and protected with thin coats of cold wax. This finish provides a more robust and intimate experience, without the painting hiding behind glass.
Tia Sunshine Dye is the artist and owner of Tia Sunshine Art, and the entrepreneur behind Aligned Exhibits and the Sunshine Align Community. With a background in Theatre Design, she brings the same passion for creating atmosphere in her paintings as she did supporting theatrical stories through lighting and sets. Tia values personal connection, mindful inspiration, and intentional creation.
Recently, Tia has stepped away from exhibitions, marketing, social media, working as a studio assistant, and many events to focus on her next cycle of growth, personally and artistically. In the next few years she will have an empty nest and hopes to pursue a formal art education. Tia’s goal is for her future artwork to express her unique perspective having viewed life through a variety of cultural lenses.

A Little More about Tia Sunshine…
Tia has a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology, with most of her professional experience focused on set and lighting design as well as technical direction and stage management. This professional experience has provided Tia with an understanding of collaboration and the visual expression of ideas focused on purpose and meaning. In that spirit, she believes that people should be allowed to reinvent themselves frequently and with artistic purpose.
